NVQs

NVQ Courses

All of our NVQs are completed using on the job training, which is the preferred option for most employers. Our NVQ courses are nationally recognised qualifications that meet industry requirements and support CSCS card applications and help to further career progression. The NVQ courses that we offer at Skills Construction Centre are claimable by CITB grants.


Level 2

Level 2 Maintenance & Repair

This course allows learners to gain their Blue Skilled Worker's CSCS card as well as providing additional trade-specific training opportunities. This course is 6-8 weeks, depending on previous learner experience.


Course includes:

  • Trade based training in the workshop including brickwork, joinery, painting and plastering repair
  • Work experience and interview provided with a local employer
  • Fully funded CSCS card application
  • Additional Health and Safety certificates
  • Additional online training


Level 3

Level 3 Occupational Work Supervision

This programme allows learners to apply for their Gold Supervisory CSCS card.


About the course:

  • This qualification is suitable for Team Leaders, Supervisors and Gangers, or those looking to progress into supervisory positions
  • You will develop skills and knowledge through on the job training
  • You will gain the confidence to carry out supervisory duties and responsibilities effectively


Level 3

Level 3 Occupational Health and Safety

This programme allows learners to be entitled to Associate Membership of the IIRSM


About the course:

  • This qualification is suitable for anyone with an element of responsibility for health and safety in their workplace.
  • You will develop skills and knowledge to minimise risks in the workplace for yourself and other employees
  • This qualification also meets the academic requirements for Technical Membership of IOSH


Level 4

Level 4 Construction Site Supervision

This programme allows learners to apply for their Gold Supervisory CSCS Card.


About the course:

  • This NVQ is vital for Construction Supervisors or Assistant Managers.
  • This qualification demonstrates you are knowledgeable, competent and skilled in your role as a Construction Supervisor.
  • You will also get the opportunity to further your career either through progression in your current company or employment with tender/contract application for employers.


Level 5

Level 5 Occupational Health and Safety

This programme allows learners to achieve IOSH Graduate Membership if all relevant units are completed.


About the course:

  • This qualification is suitable for health and safety professionals in senior management or advisory roles.
  • All candidates must be in a position that is responsible for implementing health and safety policy and procedures.



Level 6

Level 6 Construction Site Management

This programme allows learners to apply for their Black Manager's CSCS Card.


About the course:

  • This NVQ is vital for Construction Managers
  • This qualification demonstrates you are knowledgeable, competent and adept in your role as Construction Manager.
  • You will also get the opportunity to further your career either through progression in your current company or employment with tender/contract application for employers.


Level 7

Level 7 Senior Construction Site Manager

This programme allows learners to apply for their Black Manager's CSCS Card.


About this course:

  • This NVQ is suitable for Senior Managers, Directors, Owners et cetera, within construction, whether they are office based or site based.
  • This qualification demonstrates that you are knowledgeable and qualified in your role and can follow the industry recognised route to apply as a full CIOB member.
